Still without a confirmed start date for production, 20th Century Fox’s The Wolverine has brought aboard Mark Bomback for rewrite duties. Variety has the update, claiming that the Live Free or Die Hard scribe will take on Christopher McQuarrie’s original script.
The film, a sequel to 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine is said to have a heavy focus on Japan, inspired by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont’s 1982 miniseries.
Bomback’s upcoming writing credits include Jack the Giant Killer and Total Recall, the former of which features rewrites by McQuarrie.
Though nothing is set in stone as far as production goes, The Wolverine will hopefully begin filming in early 2012.
