Last week, news broke that the still-untitled James Bond 23 was eyeing a potential action sequence to be shot in India. The same article posited that the sequence might be moved to South Africa instead, but an update today from the Deccan Chronicle would seem to confirm the former and suggest that the Sam Mendes film will have an extended India-based presence.
The country’s Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry has approved the production, “for shooting in Sarojini Nagar Market, Daryaganj street and Ansari Road in the national capital.”
No plot details for the franchise sequel are yet available, but Daniel Craig will return as 007 and Judi Dench as M along with roles for Ralph Fiennes, Naomi Harris and Javier Bardem.
Production is expected to begin shortly, targeting a November 9, 2012 release.
