Ben Affleck’s next has added three as Variety reports the casting of Tate Donovan, Nelson Franklin and Taylor Schilling in the upcoming Argo.
The trio join Alan Arkin, John Goodman and Affleck himself in the true espionage story about a 1979 CIA team that, working with the Canadian government, moved to rescue six U.S. diplomats who had been taken hostage at an American embassy by a group of Iranians. Working undercover, the team pretended that they were part of a Hollywood film crew scouting a movie called “Argo.”
Schilling, who most recently appeared in Atlas Shrugged and who will star in next year’s The Lucky One, will play wife to Affleck’s CIA Agent with Donovan an embassy consulate and Franklin a journalist.
The screenplay was adapted by Chris Terrio from Joshua Bearman’s April 2007 Wired magazine article, “How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue American from Tehran” and it’s being produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smoke House to be released by Warner Bros.
