Pinewood Studios announced today that Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman has started production.
“The crew has started to construct some fantastic sets on the Studios’ backlot, as well as on some of its world famous stages,” said the statement.
In the film, Kristen Stewart (“The Twilight Saga”) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the one girl threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin plays the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The bnew vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders (“Halo 3” campaign).
Andrew Smith, Group Corporate Affairs Director at Pinewood, commented: “We’re delighted to be hosting Universal once again for its latest project, ‘Snow White and the Hunstman.’ The sets and costumes look fantastic, and I am continually struck by the talented and skilled craftsmen and women currently working in the UK film industry.”
Snow White and the Huntsman is scheduled for a June 1, 2012 release.
