Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The First Avenger earned $4 million at 2,000 theaters for midnight showings. It is the best midnight gross for a superhero film this summer.
X-Men: First Class earned $3.4 million at midnight, Green Lantern took in $3.35 million and Thor received $3.25 million.
The studios are projecting that the film will open somewhere in between X-Men: First Class and Thor, so between $55 million and $65 million.
