Chris Hemworth Taking Rush ?

Chris Hemsworth looks likely to climb behind the wheel of the Formula 1 biopic Rush, Deadline reports.

Hemsworth, best known for playing Marvel Studios’ Thor would play English racer James Hunt in the film, which is still in negotiations to be helmed by Ron Howard. The script arrives from Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) and deals with Hunt’s rivalry with Andreas Nikolaus “Niki” Lauda and the August 1, 1976 accident that left Lauda near death when his Ferrari swerved off the track, allowing Hunt to win the race.

Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor for next year’s The Avengers and 2013’s Thor 2. He is also set to star opposite Kristen Stewart in the first film of a planned trilogy, Snow White and the Huntsman. Meanwhile, the actor still has two long-delayed MGM projects, Cabin in the Woods and Red Dawn that have no release dates currently scheduled.

Deadline suggests that, if the deals on Rush go through, the project would begin shooting early next year.
