International star Karl Urban (Star Trek, upcoming Thor: Ragnarok) is in negotiations to join Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, The Giver) in the action thriller Entry Level, it was announced today by producers Craig Perry and Sheila Taylor (the Final Destination and American Pie franchises) of Practical Pictures and Tannaz Anisi, President of 13 Films.
Written by Benjamin Hurley, Entry Level will be directed by filmmaker Franck Khalfoun (upcoming Amityville: The Awakening). Perry and Taylor will produce with Tom Butterfield (the upcoming The Vault, An Actor Prepares) of Content Media. Dan Spilo of Industry Entertainment will executive produce. The feature recently qualified for the California Film Commission’s Film and TV Tax Credit and is set to begin shooting Q1 2017.
The film opens on a young man (Thwaites) who mysteriously awakens in a super high-security office building and is forced by an unknown stranger to complete a strictly timed series of dangerous tasks that implicate him in a deadly crime with global consequences. The building’s top-level security team, led by Chief Morris Baslo (Urban), pursues him in this action packed game of cat and mouse.
13 Films is handling international sales on the project at the American Film Market. Producers retain domestic rights.

Karl Urban is the New Zealand born actor that has appeared in some of the most successful films in recent history including the roles; Éomer in the worldwide phenomenon Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the Star Trek reboot from J.J Abrams, William Cooper in RED and Judge Dredd in Dredd. He was most recently seen in the Disney family adventure Pete’s Dragon and will be in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, currently in production.
