Scott Rosenberg, the screenwriter behind Con Air, High Fidelity and many more, has sold an original spec script to Paramount Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter has the details, saying that Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes will produce the supernatural children’s tale.
The story, said to evoke qualities of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, deals with a family who enlist the aide of a “Hauntrepreneur” to build them a haunted house in their new neighborhood.
Platinum Dunes most recently released the 2010 version of A Nightmare on Elm Street, but the company has plans to break its pattern of horror remakes with, among other projects, the in-development Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot and the board game inspired Ouija.
