Will Smith may be up for the lead in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.
The script for the film was confirmed by Tarantino to have been completed last week and is said to be a spaghetti Western style story of Django, a freed American slave who teams with a German bounty hunter (a part rumored to have been written for Christoph Waltz) to save his wife from an evil plantation owner.
Smith, who hasn’t appeared in a film since 2008’s Seven Pounds, is currently in production on Men in Black III. Whether he makes Django Unchained his next role remains to be seen, but regardless, the movie is expected to start production this year.
