Paramount Pictures’ new schedule has Rings delayed until February 2017
Normally, you watch The Ring tape and then have to die seven days later. This year, however, Samara seems to be granting a bit of an extension as Paramount Pictures‘ new release schedule sees Rings delayed four months. Originally set to open in theaters just before Halloween, the continuation of the horror franchise will now debut in theaters February 3, 2017. This marks the third time that updated calendars have seen Rings delayed.

In Rings, a young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…
Rings is directed by F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) from a script by David Loucka, Jacob Estes and Akiva Goldsman.
Rings stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio. The film is produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.
The new release date will see Rings opening opposite Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting sequel. The date was also planned to see the release of Paramount’s Same Kind of Different as Me, although that film is now likely to shift release dates as well.
October 28, meanwhile, will now see the arrival of Ron Howard’s third chapter in his series of Tom Hanks led Dan Brown adaptations, Inferno. Meanwhile, there’s The Eagle Huntress, a Sony Pictures Classics documentary narrated by Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ Daisy Ridley.
Without Rings in theaters, what will you be checking out on the big screen this Halloween?
