The Hollywood Reporter says that Ben Affleck is in talks to join Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Whether he’ll be able to come on board will depend on his involvement with the movie Argo.
In the film, based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic, DiCaprio will play Jay Gatsby and Maguire is Nick Carraway, who is the narrator in the novel. Mulligan will play Gatsby’s love, Daisy Buchanan, who is married to a wealthy man named Tom Buchanan. Affleck would play Buchanan.
Affleck will direct the political thriller Argo in September, while The Great Gatsby is being eyed for an August start. The trade says the two sides are trying to work out the dates.
