Patricia Arquette & Rainn Wilson to Star in Comedy Permanent

The film Permanent, starring Patricia Arquette and Rainn Wilson, will shoot in Central Virginia this summer. The feature comedy is a coming-of-age story for a family obsessed with their hair in the ’80s. The film also stars actor Michael Greene, veteran of over 100 films and TV shows, as well as 12-year-old newcomer Kira McLean.

Set in 1983 in a small town where most females with straight hair and bad swimsuits want to be Farrah Fawcett, Permanent follows the misadventures of an idiosyncratic family that yearns to feel more confident and artistic, but begins the film in a state of wild insecurity. Set in the south, Permanent features toupees, permanents, and schoolyard bullies, and sports the tagline “hairstyles are temporary, but family is forever.”

In one of her first roles following her Oscar win for Boyhood, Patricia Arquette stars alongside Rainn Wilson (“The Office,” Super, Shimmer Lake). Rainn added, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with two incredibly strong and funny women like Colette Burson and Patricia Arquette on ‘Permanent.’ I also couldn’t be more thrilled to be wearing a toupee and dressing exactly like my dad circa 1982.” Arquette has long been a sensation with other previous notable roles including NBC’s “Medium,” and “Boardwalk Empire.”

Writer and director of the film, Colette Burson, is best known for her work on the FX series “The Riches” as well as the creator and executive producer of the HBO television series “Hung,” which she also frequently directed. She is currently writing a comedic pilot called “Retired” for Amy Powell/Paramount TV and Anonymous Content.

2929 Productions is financing in partnership with Park Pictures and Washington Square films to make the film. Mary Ann Marino, Haroula Rose, Sam Bisbee and Joshua Blum will produce. Executive producers are Todd Wagner, Ben Cosgrove, Jackie Kelman Bisbee, Lance Acord and Danielle Renfrew Behrens.
