First Photos from Passengers Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt
Sony Pictures has finally released (via EW) the first photos for their upcoming sci-fi film Passengers, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, which you can check out in the gallery below! Director Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) also offered a tease for the film, saying:
“You will laugh and cry and hold your breath and be at the edge of your seat. It has chills. It also will make you smile and laugh a lot. We wanted a playful movie. And if you have Chris and Jen it’s impossible not to have — they’ve come up with a lot of stuff on set. They’re both extremely funny. They’d try this and that and come up with really funny stuff. They can go very dramatic but their great chemistry — they’re just so good. It is just fun to be around them and fun to be on this journey. In this day of sequels and reboots I think it’s refreshing that it is a completely original story with two of the best movie stars in the world. I’m very, very happy with the movie.”
Scripted by Jon Spaihts, Passengers centers on Jim Preston (Pratt), a mechanic on a 120-year journey to a distant colonized planet in another galaxy, who becomes the first traveler to experience pod hibernation failure. Having woken up 100 years too soon, he is stranded in the world of an interstellar spaceship with only robots and androids for companionship. A year into his journey, he decides to wake up a fellow passenger, a beautiful journalist named Aurora (Lawrence). They fall in love but must soon deal not only with the revelation of Jim’s misjudged act of waking her but a major malfunction of the ship itself.
Also starring Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne, Passengers has previously been given a December 21, 2016 release date.
