Summit Entertainment has signed the writers of last year’s RED to return for a sequel, Collider reports.
Though it was based on a comic book by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer, the brotherly writing team of Jon and Erich Hoeber made some significant departures from the source material in bringing RED to the big screen.
Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Karl Urban, Helen Mirren and Mary-Louise Parker, RED was a box office hit and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical Comedy (which was instead won by The Kids Are All Right).
The Hoeber brothers have also supplied the screenplay for the upcoming Battleship and, along with Pablo Fenjves, the Summit project Man on a Ledge.
