Lionsgate announced today that production has commenced on Public Disturbance, a prank comedy-adventure starring YouTube sensations the Janoskians. In addition, legendary boxer turned entertainer Mike Tyson has joined the cast, as well as Bobby Lee (Pineapple Express, “MadTV”), Skyler Samuels (“Scream Queens,” The DUFF), Amber Stevens West (22 Jump Street), Joey Lawrence, and DJ Dillon Francis.
Danny Lee (“After the Raves,” “30 for 30 Shorts: Friedman’s Shoes”) is directing and the screenplay was written by Dan Ahdoot, Don Deleon, Paul Davidson, and Tommy Honton. Hernany Perla (“Eden”), Jeremy Skaller (“Janoskians: Untold and Untrue”), and Danny Lee are producing, along with Brian Robbins and Jina Jones of AwesomenessTV.
In Public Disturbance, the Janoskians are invited to perform a stunt at a star-studded birthday bash for Alison, the daughter of a famous media mogul (to be played by Mike Tyson). When their act gets cancelled at the last minute, the pranksters plan the ultimate heist to hijack the dull party and create the largest public disturbance of their lives.
The Janoskians (Just Another Name Of Silly Kids In Another Nation) are a YouTube comedy group hailing from Melbourne, Australia, and are now based in Los Angeles. The group consists of elder brother Beau Brooks, twins Luke and Jai Brooks, and best friend Daniel Sahyounie. The Janoskians have over 20 million devoted followers across multiple social media platforms, and have garnered over 200 million views on YouTube. In March 2015, the group’s North American and European Got Cake comedy and music tour was so popular, they were brought back to the UK for a sold-out, one-night-only show at London’s Wembley Stadium. Their personal appearances draw so many fans that they’ve been known to shut down huge venues, including the Beverly Center in Los Angeles, Times Square in NYC, and Hyde Park in London. Their recent LP Would U Love Me hit #1on the iTunes chart in the UK and Greece, and was also in the top 10 in 10 other markets. The Janoskians have been nominated for a Teen Choice Award (Choice Web Star: Comedy) and a Streamy Award (Prank). Their concert mockumentary film Janoskians: Untold and Untrue, released in 2015, chronicles their journey to the JanoFest show at Wembley Stadium, peaking at #1 on the UK iTunes Movie charts. In addition to their live acts, they have their own Dirty Pig clothing line.
