Extras for director Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger filmed a scene at Trafalgar Square in London, England on Sunday that takes place on VE Day (the day when the World War II Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich). Captain America: The First Avenger, starring Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough, hits 3D and 2D theaters on July 22, 2011. The film will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
