Have you ever wondered what happened before the Antichrist, Damien, was born? You’re about to find out, as The Hollywood Reporter brings word 20th Century Fox is developing a prequel to the 1976 hit film The Omen which will be titled The First Omen.
Indie director Antonio Campos (Christine, Simon Killer) is in negotiations to direct the film. The script was penned by Ben Jacoby with David Goyer set to produce under his Phantom Four banner.
The original The Omen starred Gregory Peck as a US Ambassador whose son he believes to be the Antichrist. It was directed by Richard Donner, who would go on to helm the likes of Superman, The Goonies, and Lethal Weapon. It was nominated for two Academy Awards and won the Best Original Score in 1977.
The film went on to spawn three sequels and an eventual remake, notably only for its release date of June 6, 2006. A television sequel focusing on an adult version of the young boy, titled Damien, currently airs on A&E.
