Charlize Theron Eyes Young Adult Reteaming

A new project aims to reunite Young Adult star Charlize Theron with screenwriter Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman

A new feature film is in the works that aims to reunite the trio of talent at the heart of 2011’s Young Adult. According to Deadline, an as of yet untitled project about motherhood aims to set Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron in the lead. Four time Oscar nominee Jason Reitman would again direct a screenplay from Oscar winner Diablo Cody.

Charlize Theron, who last year headlined both the Gillian Flynn adaptation Dark Places and George Miller’s acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road, stars in this month’s Snow White and the Huntman prequel The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, the Universal Pictures release also stars Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. Look for the film to hit the big screen domestically April 22.

Jason Reitman, meanwhile, followed Young Adult with the feature films Labor Day in 2013 and Men, Women and Children in 2014. He also recently directed several episodes of Hulu‘s original comedy Casual. All ten episodes of that series’ first season arrive on DVD this week.

Diablo Cody most recently scripted Ricki and the Flash. Directed by Jonathan Demme, the comedy drama stars Meryl Streep as an aging rock and roll dreamer. Cody dropped by our own Most Craved series last year to discuss the feature and you can check out the full episode right here.

Young Adult also stars Patton Oswalt and Patrick Wilson. Whether either will also return for roles in this new film remains to be seen. Check back for updates on the project as they become available.
