Jim Parsons Boards Man-Witch and Hidden Figures

Jim Parsons has boarded two new feature films.

The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons will appear in both the WB comedy Man-Witch and the Fox 2000 drama Hidden Figures

With his massively-successful CBS sitcom currently airing its ninth season, The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons has lined up a pair of upcoming big screen projects. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Jim Parsons will play the title role in the Warner Bros. comedy Man-Witch, while Fox 2000, Chernin Entertainment and Levantine Films have today announced that Parsons will play a supporting role in their upcoming drama, Hidden Figures.

Plans for Man-Witch have been in the works at Warner Bros. for nearly a decade. The film, scripted by Jay Reiss, Josh Stolberg and Bob Florsheim, follows a schoolteacher (Parsons) who suddenly discovers he has supernatural abilities. Taken in by a coven, he is persuaded to attend a school for witches, only to discover that his classmates are all girls.

Both Jack Black and Zach Galifianakis were, at different points, planning to headline Man-Witch with The Hangover‘s Todd Phillips attached to direct. At the moment, no director has been announced, although Jim Parsons will also join Neal Moritz as producer.

Hidden Figures, meanwhile, tells the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

Jim Parsons will play NASA engineer Paul Stafford in the Ted Melfi (St. Vincent) film. The drama also stars Kevin Costner and Kirsten Dunst.

Chernin Entertainment is producing Hidden Figures with Donna Gigliotti via Levantine Films, and Melfi. Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva are overseeing the project for Fox 2000.
