Keanu Reeves will receive the 2016 CinemaCon Vanguard Award at this month’s event
Keanu Reeves is set to receive the CinemaCon Vanguard Award, it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, Managing Director of CinemaCon. CinemaCon, the official convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) will be held April 11 – 14, 2016 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Reeves will be presented with this special honor at the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards ceremony taking place the evening of Thursday, April 14, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The event is hosted by the Coca-Cola Company, the official presenting sponsor of CinemaCon 2016.
“With just shy of three decades of roles in both blockbuster and critically acclaimed films, Keanu Reeves has brought moviegoing audiences such memorable films as ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,’ ‘Point Break,’ ‘Speed,’ ‘The Matrix’ trilogy, and ‘John Wick,’ to name just a few,” noted Neuhauser. “His work on the big screen will continue to captivate audiences when he returns as John Wick in ‘John Wick: Chapter 2,’ and we could not be more honored to present him with this years ‘CinemaCon Vanguard Award.'”
Next year, the Vanguard Award winner can be seen in Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 2, arriving in theaters on February 10, 2017. Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick, who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.
In 2013, Reeves made his directorial debut and starred in Man of Tai Chi, and produced the documentary Side By Side. Most recently, Reeves can be seen in Eli Roth’s Knock Knock and Declan Dave’s Exposed. In addition to John Wick: Chapter 2, Reeves is currently in post-production on three other films: The Whole Truth, The Neon Demon and The Bad Batch.
