TheWrap is reporting that Daniel Craig, who starts filming Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens next week, is nearing a deal to star in David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, an English-language adaptation of the Swedish hit.
The film will be based on Stieg Larsson’s posthumously published crime thriller trilogy, “The Millennium Series.” The book describes the mystery surrounding the long-unsolved disappearance of an heiress. A journalist recently dinged by a libel case and a young female hacker try to resolve it, stirring up bundles of personal and industrial corruption along the way.
Craig would play the journalist who is looking for the missing woman.
However, a Columbia Pictures spokesman said, “We have not offered any roles to anyone nor are we negotiating with anyone.”
The movie is expected shoot in October.
