Amber Heard talks Mera costume in the Aquaman movie
In January, Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed that Amber Heard was joining the DC Cinematic Universe, and now the actress has talked more about her Mera costume. Her character will first appear in Justice League: Part One on November 10, 2017 and then will join Jason Momoa in the James Wan-directed Aquaman, coming to theaters on July 27, 2018.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the Mera costume, Heard said: “It’s interesting. It’s like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange… We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.”
Mera is Aquaman’s love interest and eventual Queen of Atlantis, who first appeared in the comics in 1963.
Jason Momoa will be headlining the Aquaman feature film, which is based on the classic DC Comics sea dwelling superhero. Aquaman made his first comic book appearance way back in 1941’s “More Fun Comics” #73. Created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, Aquaman went on to become a founding member of the Justice League of America two decades later. Until now, the character has never made it to the big screen. Aquaman’s sole live-action appearance was as a teen on the WB’s “Smallville.” The character was planned for a spinoff series, “Mercy Reef,” but the property never made it beyond the pilot stage.
The studio is reportedly developing two scripts for the Aquaman solo movie simultaneously, with Kurt Johnstad (300, 300: Rise of an Empire) penning one and David Leslie Johnson (Wrath of the Titans, The Conjuring 2) the other. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder are serving as producers.
