Black Voices reports that Chris Rock will write a new draft of the screenplay for director Mike Nichols’ High and Low.
David Mamet wrote the original draft for the remake of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low, the 1963 detective thriller about wealthy industrialist Kingo Gondo (Toshiro Mifune) whose family becomes the target of a cold-blooded kidnapper.
The film was based on the Ed McBain novel “King’s Ransom.”
Rock’s new film Death at a Funeral is a remake of Frank Oz’s 2007 comedy of the same name.
