Olivia Thirlby (The Wackness, Juno) has landed one of the leading roles in Summit and New Regency’s sci-fi action movie The Darkest Hour.
Chris Gorak will direct the film, which is being produced by Timur Bekmambetov and Tom Jacobson.
The film is a 28 Days-like thriller about a group of kids struggling to survive in Moscow after an alien invasion. Thirlby plays a trust fund girl trying to survive the attack who teams up with others to try to defeat the invaders.
Shooting is scheduled to start this summer in Moscow. Summit will distribute domestically while 20th Century Fox handles international markets.
