Deadline New York is reporting that Platinum Dunes, which produced The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street remakes, have come on board the remake of The Monster Squad.
It’s been over a year since Rob Cohen revealed that he was actively working with Paramount Pictures to remake The Monster Squad. Cohen was a producer on the original directed by Fred Dekker.
A writer is now being sought for the new version.
The Monster Squad, written by Shane Black and Dekker, was released in ’87 and told of a monster-lovin’ group of kids who side with the Frankenstein monster and must do battle with Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy and the Gill-Man.
