Oscar Isaac to star in reality-based political thriller A Foreigner
Variety is reporting that rising star Oscar Isaac (“Show Me a Hero,” Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is in talks to headline Paramount’s political thriller A Foreigner from Me and Earl and the Dying Girl director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.
Based on “A Murder Foretold,” a 2011 article by David Grann appearing in The New Yorker, the story of A Foreigner centers on a Guatemalan lawyer named Rodrigo Rosenberg who had a video of his murder posthumously distributed in order to end a cycle of corruption and death.
Isaac has a full dance card for the coming year, as he is currently filming the Ottoman Empire love triangle The Promise opposite Christian Bale, and plays the title role in next summer’s Bryan Singer blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse. He is also expected to reprise his Force Awakens role of hotshot pilot Poe Dameron in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII, which already started preliminary shooting this year and begins principal photography in England’s Pinewood Studios early next year for a May 26, 2017 release.
