Need for Speed director Scott Waugh will helm the action thriller Blackout
Former stunt performer-turned-action helmer Scott Waugh, best known for practical stunt fiestas like 2012’s Act of Valor and last year’s Need for Speed, is attached to direct the new action thriller Blackout with indie financier Sierra/Affinity producing.
In Blackout, a cop, tasked with transporting a mysterious and dangerous criminal across town, is put to the ultimate test when a city-wide blackout plunges them into darkness and chaos.
The script for the film is written by Sidney King (Pearl Diver) with revisions by Brooks McLaren. Blackout will be produced by Broken Road’s Todd Garner and Jeremy Stein. McLaren joins the project as co-producer. Sierra/Affinity’s Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg are executive producing the project. Kelly McCormick, Sierra/Affinity’s Executive Vice President of Production and Development, is overseeing the production for the company.
Sierra’s next project to start production is The Coldest City, starring Charlize Theron and James McAvoy. Principal photography of the film begins next month in Budapest before shooting continues in Berlin under the direction of another former stunt man director David Leitch (John Wick).
