Chris Rock has optioned English-language remake rights to France’s La premiere etoile (“The First Star”). Rock will write the remake’s screenplay and produce.
The 2009 original is about a black family who leave their working-class hood to take to the ski slopes. That’s considered a social faux pas in the stuffy resort.
Rock can next be seen in another remake, Death at a Funeral, followed by Grown Ups.
