Jennifer Lawrence Teams with Darren Aronofsky

Jennifer Lawrence is in talks to headline Darren Aronofsky’s next, a mystery indie project

Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) is making plans for the future today as Variety reports that the star has entered talks to headline a mystery indie project from Academy Award nominee Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Noah). The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, brings word that Lawrence has exited Richard Linklater’s The Rosie Project.

Little is known about Aronofsky’s mystery film, although the trade notes that the current plan is for it to shoot next spring. No acting talent is fully aboard quite yet, but Aronofsky is said to be meeting with potential stars right now. As such, check back for casting updates as they become available.

The Rosie Project, meanwhile, is set up at Columbia Pictures and is based on Graeme Simsion’s book of the same name. The story follows a genetics professor with low social skills who develops a survey to find his ideal mate, until he meets Rosie Jarman (Lawrence), a woman with the exact opposite qualities he’s looking for.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber ((500) Days of Summer) wrote the screenplay for The Rosie Project, with Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan producing.

Lawrence will be on the big screen soon, headlining the final chapter of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games series as Katniss Everdeen. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 hits the big screen November 20. Next summer, Lawrence will be back for her final contracted appearance as Mystique in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Look for the mutant ensemble to arrive May 27, 2016. After that, Lawrence will star alongside Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World) in the science fiction romance Passengers. Now filming, Passengers aims to hit theaters December 21, 2016.
