The James McAvoy and Seth Rogen dramedy formerly called I’m With Cancer may have dropped that title, but it has picked up an award-nominated actress in Anna Kendrick, fresh off her critically-acclaimed performance in Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air. Their movie has also gotten a new director in Jonathan Levine, helmer of the Sundance fave The Wackness, replacing Nicole Holofcener, who has dropped out for personal reasons.
Based on the real-life experiences of Will Reiser, who also wrote the screenplay, McAvoy plays a 25-year-old who learns he has cancer and spends years battling it. Kendrick will play Katherine, a young psychologist assigned to handle Adam’s case despite her lack of real life experience.
Produced by Seth Rogen, his writing partner Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin, the movie will start filming in Vancouver in February with Mandate International handling sales once it’s done.
