The Conjuring 2 Filming Begins!

The Conjuring 2 filming began today with a priest coming to bless the set

Production on James Wan’s horror sequel is officially underway today as the director announced via social media that The Conjuring 2 filming has begun! Check the below embed of James Wan’s Instagram to take a look at the Furious Seven director on a creepy, foggy soundstage. Also sharing scenes of today’s The Conjuring 2 filming is the New Line Cinema Twitter, which itself posted a shot from a special ceremony the production held this morning. It seems that an actual priest was brought in to bless the set!

Unlike the recent spinoff film, Annabelle (which explored the back story of The Conjuring‘s terrifying doll), The Conjuring 2 will continue the based-on-truth adventures of Ed and Lorraine Warren, whose cases have also inspired the likes of The Haunting in Connecticut and most notably, The Amityville Horror. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are returning as the real-life paranormal investigators with Frances O’Connor set to play the part of a desperate mother whose daughter is experiencing a haunting.

The Conjuring 2 features a screenplay by Chad and Carey Hayes who penned the first film along with House of Wax and The Reaping. James Wan (Saw, Insidious, Furious 7) will return to direct.

The Conjuring 2 is set for release on June 10, 2016. The film will go up against Jon M. Chu’s heist sequel Now You See Me: The Second Act plus the long awaited big screen adaptation of Warcraft from Moon director Duncan Jones.
