Zach Galifianakis Will Take on The Joker as ‘Lego Batman’ Finds Its Villain

We The Lego Batman Movie, but we didn’t know who the blocky yellow pair would be trying to take down — until now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Zach Galifianakis is in talks to voice The Joker in Warner Bros.‘ forthcoming spinoff, which means my idea of turning the movie into an “Arrested Development” reunion and having David Cross or Tony Hale voice The Joker is all but dead, but it’s okay, life goes on.

I’ve grown a bit sour on Galifianakis in recent years, given the mostly one-note comedic range he has displayed since breaking out in 2009’s The Hangover, but I liked him quite a bit in Birdman and I’m hopeful he can turn this role into something fun. The good news is Galifianakis has two solid comedians to play off of in Arnett and Cera.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who wrote and directed The Lego Movie, are back to produce Lego Batman, while Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) will write the script for director Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on The Lego Movie. The movie is set for a February 10, 2017 release date.
