I don’t need to watch a trailer for Spectre to know I want to see the movie. Hell, the only thing watching a trailer could do is lower my expectations for the 24th James Bond film set to hit theaters on Nov. 6. That said, while I didn’t watch this latest TV spot, I did skim through it for the above screen capture and I can’t tell you how much I wish director Sam Mendes and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema (Interstellar) had gone with a different color palette for the shoot other than the same drenched-in-darkness, saturated-in-orange look Roger Deakins delivered in Skyfall.
All three of the Bond films starring Daniel Craig, to this point, have had very distinct looks to them, which I’ve quite liked. If anything, with this one featuring the return of Jesper Christensen as Mr. White, you’d think it might go back to the look of Casino Royale. This, of course, is all based on scanning through less than 60-seconds of footage in this latest trailer, but other than the mountain scenes, this thing looks incredibly dark and incredibly orange.
