Before today all we really knew about William Monahan‘s Mojave was that it was a Los Angeles-based thriller starring Oscar Isaac and Garrett Hedlund. Today Atlas Independent sent over a first look picture from the film featuring the two lead actors along with a plot synopsis to add a little more insight.
Mojave, from the original screenplay by Oscar-winning writer William Monahan, is an intense, classical thriller about a desolated, violent artist, Tom, (Garrett Hedlund) who escapes into the desert and encounters, instead of solitude, what he was really looking for: a worthy antagonist, in the form of a homicidal, chameleon-like drifter, Jack (Oscar Isaac).
Monahan is obviously best known for adapting Infernal Affairs into Martin Scorsese‘s Best Picture-winning The Departed, which also won Monahan an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. A few years back he made his directorial debut with London Boulevard, which I’ve still yet to see, but have been meaning to despite the middling reviews.
Mojave is being shopped around this week at the American Film Market (AFM) as it is still looking for domestic distribution.
