I saw Captain Phillips last night and I’ll probably be posting my review early next week, but let me say for a film that runs 132 minutes, it really packs a wallop of a punch in its final ten or so, largely thanks to Tom Hanks who absolutely knocks it out of the park in the latter moments. I don’t want to say much more other than to suggest you be prepared for all this one has to offer as it only builds and builds.
On top of Hanks, Barkhad Abdi as the Somali pirate leader Muse is fantastic and, at times, heart breaking. Paul Greengrass essentially delivers a film that would fit right alongside United 93 in a duology of films looking for a third to complete the sequence.
Captain Phillips will be holding sneak peeks across the nation this Saturday, October 5, and will go nationwide next Friday, October 11. Until then, here’s a handful of clips from the film to keep you busy.
