AMC and Cinemark have followed Regal Cinemas‘ lead and announced 87 and 69 additional theatres respectively where you will be able to see Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in the new High Frame Rate 3-D (HFR 3D). For those of you that live in Seattle, Washington I can also confirm the film will be showing in 48 FPS 3D at the local Seattle Cinerama, which is where I have been persuading my local reps to screen the film for local press. Fingers crossed on that one.
What I have done below is broken up the various theater chains out on each page.
You will find AMC Theatres directly below, Page Two will have the list of Cinemark Theatres, Page Three has the Regal Cinemas listed and on Page Four I have included the previously released information sheet detailing the facts of HFR 3D cinema for those curious to find out what all the fuss is about.
I have made sure to not the theatres that also include IMAX screens where I could, but this isn’t a confirmation these IMAX screens are not the smaller, IMAX screens. I know the film will be playing at the Boeing IMAX theater in Seattle, where it will be presented in 70mm, but not at 48 fps.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters on December 14.
