Sony Pictures has yet to release an “official” synopsis for Kathryn Bigelow‘s “hunt for Osama bin Laden” movie, Zero Dark Thirty, outside of the brief one-liner saying it reunites The Hurt Locker director-producer Bigelow and writer-producer Mark Boal for the story of history’s greatest manhunt for the world’s most dangerous man. Not exactly revealing.
The story will focus on the black ops mission to capture or kill bin Laden, which culminated in his death in May 2011 during a high-stakes raid on his compound in Pakistan. Bigelow and Boal have been developing the project since 2008 and plan to incorporate recent events into the film.
Today I have the first three official images from the flick, which stars a ton of names including Jason Clarke, Chris Pratt, Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong, Edgar Ramirez, Kyle Chandler, Nash Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle, Harold Perrineau Jr., Fares Fares and Mark Duplass. The film is currently schedule for a December 19 release and is certain to be one to be considered in this year’s awards race.
