The Hollywood Reporter says actor Charles Dance is following up his directorial debut, Ladies in Lavender, by directing his own script based on Alice Thomas-Ellis’ novel “The Inn at the Edge of the World.”
Dance has already sealed the services of Michael Gambon (“Harry Potter” films), Stephen Fry and Penelope Wilton for the movie, which tells the story of a group of unrelated people who share a common desire to escape the enforced jollity of Christmas and venture to a remote Scottish island.
“Inn” will be produced by Jane Spencer-Prior and Lamia Nayeb-St. Hilaire of Dancing Pictures with Intandem taking executive producer credits. It is due to go before the cameras in May, but Dance plans to appear only behind the camera for the movie, which will shoot on location in Scotland.
