Hot off her critically-acclaimed turn in Jonathan Demme’s Rachel Getting Married which made her the toast of the Toronto International Film Festival, Anne Hathaway has signed onto the big screen adaptation of author Julie Buxbaum’s best-selling debut novel The Opposite of Love. The book has been optioned by 20th Century Fox, the same studio that released Hathaway’s hit comedy The Devil Wears Prada, which was also based on a popular book.
In the movie, Hathaway will play a lawyer afraid of commitment, whose life starts falling apart after she turns down her eager boyfriend’s marriage proposal.
Tapestry Films is producing with Kara Holden scripting the adaptation.
