The full cast has been revealed for James Oakley’s The Brits are Coming
Six new actors have joined the cast of the now-filming comedy The Brits are Coming. The new additions include Oscar nominee Tim Roth (Selma, The Hateful Eight), Golden Globe nominee Parker Posey (Irrational Man, Superman Returns), Maggie Q (The Divergent Series, Live Free or Die Hard), Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness, Before We Go), Golden Globe nominee Stephen Fry (The Hobbit, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Sofia Vergara (Chef, “Modern Family”), all of whom will star opposite previously-announced Oscar nominee Uma Thurman.
In the broad comedy, an eccentric British con-artist couple, Harriet (Thurman) and Peter Fox (Roth), flee to Los Angeles to get away from paying a large debt to Ivanka, a notorious gangster (Maggie Q) after a failed poker game. In an attempt to raise the money, the couple approach a former associate, Sidney (Fry), who secretly sells their whereabouts. With the gangster hot on their trail, the pair scheme to win back the money by executing a jewel theft operation involving Peter’s ex-wife (Eve) and her new husband, Gabriel.
“‘The Brits are Coming’ is truly a wildly hysterical ride from start to finish and promises to deliver on the laughs with such a talented and diverse cast on board to inhabit these unconventional characters,” says Barnum. “I couldn’t be more thrilled with this phenomenal cast in place, which elevates the production.”
Shooting is currently underway on The Brits Are Coming in New York City. The film is being directed by James Oakley (The Devil You Know) who co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Michaelides. Producers include Cassian Elwes, Robert Ogden Barnum, JC Chandor and Dave Hansen. Ike Suri, Jaclyn Ann Suri, Larry Safir, Papu Butani, Quinn Meyers, Johnny Mac, Dee Haslam, Matthew Helderman, David Kyle, Dom Genest and Luke Taylor are executive producing with Elliot Michael Smith co-producing the project.
Fortitude International, co-founded by Nadine de Barros, Barnum and Daniel Wagner, is handling international rights to the project. Producers currently hold US rights.
