Blake Lively will star in Sony’s In the Deep
TheWrap is reporting that Sony Pictures’ survival thriller In the Deep has found its shark bait/leading lady in the form of Blake Lively (The Age of Adeline, The Town), who will be the lone person onscreen for the majority of the film’s runtime.
Described as a cross between Jaws and 127 Hours, the film follows a young twenty-something woman dealing with the recent death of her mother is surfing on an isolated beach and gets stranded 20 yards offshore on a buoy. What lies between her and the shore is a huge great white shark. She must find a way back to shore before succumbing to her injuries.
Jaume Collet-Serra (Run All Night, Non-Stop) will direct the film after previous director Louis Leterrier exited over budget cuts and story changes. The ocean-bound Black List script for In the Deep is by Anthony Jaswinski, with Weimaraner Republic Pictures partners Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem attached to produce.
Lively is currently in Barcelona filming Marc Forster’s thriller All I See is You opposite Jason Clarke, and will then appear among the ensemble cast for Woody Allen’s latest untitled film alongside Bruce Willis, Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart and more.
