Comedy veterans Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel have been brought aboard to rewrite the Touchstone Pictures comedy Bob: The Musical, says The Hollywood Reporter. Mark Waters (upcoming The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past) is attached to direct.
“Bob” centers on a thirtysomething guy who hates musicals and wakes up to find his entire life has become one. Tony-winning and Oscar-nominated composer-lyricist Marc Shaiman is writing the movie’s songs.
Disney bought Mike Bender’s (brother of producer Chris) original pitch in 2004. Since then, John August (Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride) and Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (“Girlfriends Past”) did their song-and-dance on the script.
