Rosamund Pike and Jon Hamm will star in High Wire Act
Deadline is reporting that Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike will join previously-announced Jon Hamm (“Mad Men,” Million Dollar Arm) in the political action-thriller High Wire Act.
Directed by Brad Anderson (Transsiberian, The Call) from an original screenplay by Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy, Michael Clayton), the 1980s period piece follows former U.S. diplomat Mason Skiles (Hamm) who has to save a former colleague from the group responsible for his own family’s death. Pike will play a CIA field agent responsible for the success of Skiles’ mission as well as keeping him alive.
“Tony may have been channeling John le Carré when he wrote this, and as such it has many of the themes I love that make those stories so great – the political intrigue, the betrayals, the morally compromised characters, the reluctant heroes. And it’s set in a world – war-torn Beirut – that’s seldom depicted on screen,” said Anderson in May.
Gilroy, Ted Field and Mike Weber of Radar Pictures are producing High Wire Act. Pike is also set to star opposite Joel Kinnaman in the thriller The Bends, as well as the WWII film HHHH alongside Jason Clarke, Jack O’Connell and Mia Wasikowska.
