Gabrielle Union Boards Sleepless Night Opposite Jamie Foxx

Gabrielle Union, who starred last year in both Chris Rock’s Top Five and Tim Story’s Think Like a Man Too, is set to join Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Django Unchained) and Golden Globe-nominee Michelle Monaghan (Source Code, “True Detective”) in the upcoming action thriller Sleepless Night. The Hollywood Reporter has that news while TheWrap, meanwhile, brings word that Union is in talks to join Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s original big screen comedy Keanu.

To be directed by Baran Bo Odar, Sleepless Night tells the story of Vincent Downs (Foxx), a seemingly corrupt Las Vegas cop. When gangsters kidnap his son as ransom for a shipment of cocaine he stole, Downs races to save his son’s life without getting caught by Internal Affairs and before the mobsters discover that he’s actually lost the goods. Monaghan plays officer Jennifer Bryant, an Internal Affairs agent investigating Downs who ultimately has to decide which side of the law he’s on.

The screenplay was written by Andrea Berloff (World Trade Center, Straight Outta Compton) and serves as a remake of the French film Nuit Blanche, directed by Frédéric Jardin, and written by Jardin, Olivier Fox and Nicolas Saada.

Details on Keanu are bit less specific. The New Line comedy is written by Key and Peele and is said to center around a kidnapped cat.
