The very first images are now online from Prisoners and Enemy director Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming action-thriller Sicario. Check them out in the gallery viewer below along with the film’s poster.
Set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival this month, Sicario is scripted by Taylor Sheridan and follows FBI agent Kate (Emily Blunt, Into the Woods, Edge of Tomorrow) and her conflicting journey that descends into the intrigue, corruption and moral mayhem of the borderland drug wars. In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, Kate is exposed to the brutal world of international drug trafficking by members of a government task force who have enlisted her in their plan to take out a Mexican cartel boss.
The cast also includes Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro (Traffic, Guardians of the Galaxy), Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men, Inherent Vice) along with Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead,” Fury), and Emmy Award nominee Victor Garber (“Alias,” “The Flash”).
Sicario hits theaters in a limited release September 18 with plans to expand the following week, opening nationwide September 25.
Producers on Sicario include Basil Iwanyk, Edward L. McDonnell, Molly Smith and Thad and Trent Luckinbill.
