Relativity Takes Shot Caller, Starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Bold Films today announced that Ric Roman Waugh’s Shot Caller is in final negotiations to be acquired by Relativity Studios for US Domestic distribution.

The thriller, set to star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau follows a newly-released prison gangster who is forced by the leaders of his gang to orchestrate a major crime with a brutal rival gang on the streets of Southern California. Additional casting is currently underway.

“We are very gratified by Relativity Studios’ wide release commitment to this gritty, authentic crime thriller,” said Bold CEO Gary Michael Walters. “This commitment is a testament to the broad commercial appeal of this film, and is a great platform for our international distribution activities.”

“Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is an outstanding actor who is perfect for this role,” adds Bold Chairman Michel Litvak, “and he has a huge global fan base from ‘Game of Thrones’ to support him here.”

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Snitch, That Which I Love Destroys Me) from his script, Shot Caller will be produced by Bold’s Michel Litvak and Matthew Rhodes along with Waugh and Participant Media’s Jonathan King who developed the project. Bold’s Gary Michael Walters will executive produce with Participant’s Jeff Skoll. The film will be fully financed by Bold Films. The film will start production on May 26 in New Mexico and be overseen by Bold’s Lisa Zambri.

Coster-Waldau stars as Jamie Lannister on HBO’s megahit drama “Game of Thrones.” He recently starred in Susanne Bier’s A Second Chance, which premiered at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival, and up next he stars in Summit Entertainment’s Gods of Egypt, set for a February 12 2016 release.

Shot Caller will be sold internationally by Sierra/Affinity, which will introduce the film to buyers at the upcoming Cannes market. WME and Miles Mogulescu handled the negotiations for Bold.
