Avengers: Age of Ultron is bringing us a slew of superheroes to the big screen this season. So much so, that we had to break it up into two digestible parts. Slated to play the roles of your favorite Avengers are some familiar favorites, as well as new faces to the franchise.
Chris Evans (Steve Rogers / Captain America)
Chris Evans is most known for his role as Captain America in the 2011 and 2014 films and will also star in the 2016 release of Captain America: Civil War, but those certainly aren’t the only places you’ve seen his face. He’s been in the scene for 15 years, but his first big hit was Not Another Teen Movie, followed by several smaller roles. He’s also played a part in other superhero films, including Fantastic Four and Scott Pilgrim vs the World.
Haley Atwell (Peggy Carter)
Haley Atwell spent her childhood in England with frequent trips to Missouri to visit her father in the United States. When she wasn’t traveling she was enjoying the theatre, which would later spark her interest in acting. She got her start in BBC miniseries before she made her Hollywood debut. Haley Atwell has been playing the role of Peggy Carter since Captain America: The First Avenger. She’s also been a part of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,”Agent Carter,” and will appear in Ant-Man when it hits theaters July 17th.
Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow)
Scarlett Johansson has been making a splash in Hollywood since 1994 with some major roles including Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Prestige, The other Boleyn Girl, We Bought a Zoo, and Lucy, just to name a few. That doesn’t even include her foray into the Marvel franchise. ScarJo just gave birth to her first child during the filming of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Don Cheadle (Colonel James Rhodes / War Machine)
Don Cheadle has been on the scene for a long time and even appeared on episodes of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Hanging With Mr. Cooper.” But those are just small notches on his belt. He’s most known for his incredible roles in Hotel Rwanda, Crash, Flight, the “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise, and Reign Over Me outside of his Marvel roles.
Paul Bettany (Jarvis / The Vision)
Born into a theatre family, Paul Bettany got his start pretty early. He has appeared in A Knight’s Tale, Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang), and A Beautiful Mind, just to name a few. Bettany is married to Jennifer Connelly, whom with he has two children. His oldest, Stellan, is named after co-star Stellan Skarsgard. They’ve appeared in three films together.
Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson / Falcon)
Anthony Mackie once wanted to be an engineer but instead followed his dreams of acting and graduated from The Julliard School. His career has been nothing short of successful. Anthony Mackie is new to Marvel but he’s been making waves in films like The Hurt Locker, Million Dollar Baby, and Real Steel.
Claudia Kim (Dr. Cho)
Claudia Kim was born as Kim Soo-hyun in South Korea. She has had some small roles in television series, including “Marco Polo,” but Avengers: Age of Ultron marks her first step into feature length films.
Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury)
Samuel L. Jackson is a character both on screen and off screen. He’s appeared on the silver screen for over 40 years in too many major roles to mention. Jackson has reached legendary status with 30 awards and another 60 nominations, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Stellan Skarsgard (Erik Selvig)
Swedish-born Stellan Skarsgard has been acting since the 1960s and shows no signs of slowing. Most notably, he has appeared in Good Will Hunting, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Insomnia, and Amistad. He’s the father to eight children, of which five are actors, including actor Alexander Skarsgard.
Andy Serkis (Ulysses Klaw)
Andy Serkis has appeared in major films like King Kong (2005), The Prestige, and the Planet of the Apes (2011 franchise). He’s most known for his incredible CGI and voice work as Gollum/Smeagol for The Lord of the Rings franchise. He had to film each scene twice to achieve the proper effects but was considered ineligible for a Supporting Actor nomination for the Academy Awards because his character was computer animated. He’s also slated for roles in The Jungle Book: Origins and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Lou Ferrigno (Hulk voice)
Lou Ferrigno is the legend behind the Hulk’s 1978 television appearance. He’s made appearances in other films and television series, but nothing that has brought on the international recognition of The Incredible Hulk. He’s so respected that he’s actually been brought on to every appearance since as the voice of Hulk.
You’ll find these actors and more filling the roles of your favorite Marvel heroes when the film is released. Avengers: Age of Ultron is schedule to hit theaters on May 1st and is sure to be the major box office hit of the summer.
