In the age of piracy, this is a pretty odd announcement, but Sony Pictures Releasing confirmed this morning that James Bond pic Quantum of Solace will open in the U.K. on Oct. 31, a week before its debut in North America on Nov. 7.
Other European territories getting their 007 fix ahead of the U.S. are France and Belgium, where the film will be released on Nov. 5., and the Netherlands and Germany, which get the pic on Nov. 6. It launches in Spain and Italy on Nov. 7.
Directed by Marc Forster, “Quantum” stars Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton, Jeffrey Wright, Jesper Christensen and Joaquin Cosio.
What’s also strange is that the only movie scheduled for the Oct. 31 weekend Stateside so far is Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla, while on Nov. 7 DreamWorks Animation releases Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. We know which movie we’d rather face.
