A Series Regular Will Not be Returning for Arrow Season Four

There’s some potentially troubling news tonight for fans of The CW’s hit DC Comics series, “Arrow,” as Deadline reports that one series regular will not be returning for season four. Keep reading to find out who, but beware of spoilers, especially with regard to tonight’s brand new episode, “Broken Arrow.”

According to the outlet, season three sees the end of Colton Haynes’ contract and, as such, his Roy Harper is being written off the show. We won’t spoil exactly how Roy is making his exit, but fans can find out themselves by watching tonight’s episode, officially described as follows:

Lance (Paul Blackthorne) continues his mission to take down the Arrow (Stephen Amell) so Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) orders Oliver to keep a low profile. However, when a meta-human named Jake Simmons (guest star Doug Jones), who kills people with blasts of energy and plasma, starts terrorizing Starling City, Oliver is forced to ask Ray (Brandon Routh) for help. The unlikely duo is forced to team up to save the city.

The good news for Roy fans is that Haynes’ exit is being written so that the character can potentially later return to “Arrow,” “The Flash” or even the still-untitled team-up show that the network has in the works.

“Watch the finale to find out,” series creator Greg Berlanti responded when asked if Oliver Queen might be getting a new sidekick. “Fans will really wonder where you go from here… We have planned something cool and radical to open next season.”
