Although it’s no surprise given how things turned out at the end of the recently-released season three, Netflix officially announced today that their hit series “House of Cards” will return for a fourth season in 2016.
“I will leave a legacy,” the show teased on its official Facebook page today alongside the hashtag, “#Underwood2016”
Starring two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey (who also took home a Golden Globe for his work on the Netflix series), the third season saw Francis (Spacey) and Claire (Robin Wright) Underwood continue their ruthless rise to power as threats mount on all fronts. It also introduced new recurring characters, including Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, The Blind Side) and Jenna Stern (16 Blocks, Hitch).
Based on the BBC miniseries of the same name, “House of Cards” is executive produced by David Fincher, Joshua Donen, Beau Willimon, Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti, John David Coles and Eric Roth. The one-hour drama is produced by Donen/Fincher/Roth and Trigger Street Productions, Inc. in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix.
“House of Cards” is just one of the shows included in Netflix’s rapidly expanding slate of original programming which will, next week, expand its reign to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the debut of “Marvel’s Daredevil,” the first of five planned Marvel Studios series headed to the streaming service.
